FAIRFIELD BAY

Nestled in the Ozark Mountains and situated on the western shoreline of a pristine 40,000-acre lake, Fairfield Bay offers natural beauty and an active, outdoor lifestyle.

The community showcases stunning mountain scenery and outdoor activities. Countless amenities standard with living in Fairfield Bay include fishing and boating on scenic Greers Ferry Lake, teeing off on two 18-hole championship golf courses, hiking Sugar Loaf Mountain and exploring the boulders and history of the caves at Indian Rock. Other popular areas to visit are nearby Ozark National Forest and Blanchard Springs Caverns.

The Sugar Loaf Mountain Trail was Arkansas's first designated National Scenic Trail and one of the first in the nation. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on an island in the middle of Greers Ferry Lake, the one-mile trek to the top rewards visitors with panoramic views of the Ozarks.

Indian Rock House Cave and Trail is on the National Register of Historic Places, 1982.This landmark was a rendezvous spot for ancient west Mississippi Indians and was visited by Hernando de Soto in 1542 while seeking the Fountain of Youth.

Greers Ferry Dam, which created the 40,000-acre Greers Ferry Lake, dramatically changed this area of north-central Arkansas. The dam was dedicated in late 1963 by John F. Kennedy.

​

Fairfield Bay is also home to more than 400 slips at Premier Marina, eight championship tennis courts, three resort-style pools, miniature golf, a fitness center, library, and a country club with casual and formal dining. The Towne Conference and Visitor Center offers meeting rooms, a convention area and banquet facilities. It is also the designated art gallery of the North Central Arkansas Art League. Along with the permanent collection, two dimensional, sculpture and stained glass work are on display for viewing and purchase.

Established at a resort/retirement village, Fairfield Bay is full of weekend retreat condos, luxury residences, and lodgings with resort-style amenities. Neal Simonson of New Jersey, a founder of Fairfield Communities, Inc., is credited with naming the community.

​

The mild climate provides year-round comfort with the warmest month being July and the coolest January. Popular events throughout the year include Bloomin' in the Bay (April), Surf the Bay (June), 4th of July, Fall Festivals, Holiday festivals, and music, plays and more at the outdoor amphitheater.

​

With its two-lane roads, winding trails, golfing, boating, year-round fishing, and more than 50 civic groups, Fairfield Bay is home to a diverse and growing community. Residents and vacationers alike enjoy a lifestyle of memorable experiences.

Located 75 miles north of Little Rock, the Bay is located along Ark. 16, east of Clinton.
